I had the absolute pleasure of having Arpon Basu on the podcast to talk about his new venture to bring The Athletic, the prominent subscription sports journalism service, to Montreal this September, and we got into a wide range of topics.

From what kind of content The Athletic MTL will be, to the challenges it faces in defining itself in both languages, to how the Montreal Canadiens have changed and what to expect next season, to the tragedy in Charlottesville that has shown how serious the Neo-Nazi threat is right now in North America.

Also we talked a little Netflix to bring it back to Ice Level days. We went off on tangents about Subban, Weber, Plekanec, and Pacioretty, and ended up chatting for nearly two hours. Enjoy!

On the podcast this week Arune Singh is back on with me to talk about the first two movies in the Fast and Furious franchise, but before we got into that we needed to talk about P.K. Subban, his personal success, and the perception of him around the NHL.

With the hockey stuff out of the way, we got into two movies from the early 2000’s that frankly, aren’t very good, but spawned a powerhouse franchise. What about them was so special that people were compelled to keep coming back?

This week on the podcast, Marc Dumont from Eyes on the Prize joins me to do some playoff predictions for the second round, and then we go deep into what went wrong with the Canadiens this year, and whether they can recover from it.

We also referenced an article on EOTP from Kyle Medeiros on the Canadiens’ inability to break in drafted players, which you can read here.

The man, the beard, the legend; PDOcast host Dimitri Filipovic joined me to talk about the early returns on the 2017 NHL playoffs, going through it series by series, but not before I tell an embarrassing story.
